A live band and live music can really change the atmosphere of a get together and you can be sure that your guests will be impressed. However, hiring a live band may not be something that you have ever done before and the prospect might be a little confusing to you. How can you hire a live band and how can you make sure that you are hiring the right people?

What are the things that you need in getting a band? How can you be sure of that they are the right one for your event? To start, the main thing that you should consider is to try to find individuals located in your region. Surfing the web might be an ideal way to deal with this. Try to browse some of the famous social networking sites like Myspace, Facebook and Twitter.

You may find a great live band that is interested in the gig in your area. On the other hand, maybe, you know somebody that had already done this before, ask them maybe they can advise someone for you.

When you have few bands that look like they might be suit the occasion, make sure that you listen to their music. In some cases, they are willing to send you demo CDs or DVD video, but in many cases, a lot of their performances are going to be available online. They may also have a list of songs and styles that they are capable of and they will make mention of the types of events that they like to do.

Searching for these people will not be difficult as you can do it even while sitting at home. Call or email those bands that you wish to be present at your party.

Later on, you may already have a list of a couple of live bands that you are interested in going with, and now is the time to contact them. Take into consideration that those people that you prefer are the ones that react and reply quickly and in a professional way. Take note; booking with these bands is a professional thing and you deserve to have very professional treatment from them. Try to consider these questions. How long has it been since they responded to your call? Were you satisfied with the manner that they communicated with you? Be straightforward. Make sure that they are aware of how much you are willing to pay and other details aside from the talent fee.

How long do they take to get back to you? Are you happy with the way that they speak to you? Make sure that they are clear on your budget and what you are going to be providing. Some bands will throw in an extra fee if they need to travel, so take a moment and make sure that you are in agreement over the fee.

Once you have chosen a live band for your gathering, remember that you should take some time to do some scheduling. How soon do they need to arrive at the venue and what kind of preparations do they need to make? The more you and the band that you have chosen communicate, the better things are going to go.

Having selected as the best man you have the chance to make the groom realize how much you care for him. Since the groom has picked none other but you as his best man it is apparent that you guys are pretty close to each other. Now it’s your turn to honor his decision. I am sure this article is going to help you to help him with his best man speech.

Start your speech off with a comical statement, pertaining to this joyous occasion. Introduce yourself, and your relationship to the groom, for, not everyone will know who you are. Complement the bride, and then thank her on the maid of honor’s behalf as well as the bridesmaids. Thank the groom for choosing you, to be his best man, and for his speech.

In your best man speech you must remember to thank everybody who contributed to make the wedding successful. Also greet and thank everybody who attended the wedding. Mention the bride’s father’s name and appreciate his speech while thanking the both sets of parents. You can also think of toasting the parents of the newlyweds.

Thank the guests for their lovely gifts, and compliments, and for being part of this magical day. Mention all that happened while preparing for the wedding, funny stories, intense moments.

Following, you can now tell your audience about the kind of rapport you have with the groom. How did you come across each other for the very first time? How did the relationship blossom between the two of you? What do you think contributed mostly for the relationship to grow? The audience will definitely like to hear about the emotional attachment you share with the groom.

Now it’s time to talk about the newlyweds. How they came across each other? Is there anything that they achieved with the help of each other? Was it a romantic encounter or did everything started with a simple friendship that eventually evolved into love for each other? Explain to the audience why you think that the wedding couple are a perfect match for one another? Mention some of the good qualities that both of them posses as human beings. Is the groom hard working and sincere? Is he an affectionate and a caring person? How do you think that this marriage would help him to become an even better person? After that you can talk about the bride in a similar way. Don’t even think of not mentioning her in your best man speech. Is she also a sincere person who is passionate about what she does?

You, being the best man, the groom must have told you everything about his new love when he met her. Paint the guests a picture, on just how the groom described his new bride to you. Reveal some of the things he told you about her, and watch as a tear rolls down her face, after sharing it.

It’s a good idea to include a couple of humorous anecdotes from yesteryears as well as a few words about his inclinations towards sports and movies etc. Nevertheless, refrain from making careless remarks that might hurt the feelings of the groom and embarrass him to pieces.

Now it’s toast time. Raise your glass high in the air, and ask everyone to join you, in toasting the new and happy couple. Give them your blessings of best wishes for a long and happy future together.

Looking for that something special to adorn your wedding cake?  We hope to be your “one stop shop” for anything related to this topic, and not only will we be discussing a bit of the background of toppers, and the various types, but also where you will be able to obtain some of the most popular ones.  Ready?  Let’s get started…

Let’s start off with a more “formal type of a description”.  A wedding cake topper is a small model, often made out of plastic, that sits on top of the wedding cake.  It normally depicts the couple being married, often wearing formal wedding attire.

With the description out of the way, let’s look into the history of these little models.  While the exact origins of the first model or figure on top of a wedding cake are not known, it is known that this tradition dates back to at least 100 years ago.  In one tradition, as the story goes, the daughter of a bake was getting married.  She asked her dad to make a token of the love that they felt for each other so that the whole world could see.  After careful consideration, and several attempts, the baker came up with an idea…he would put two small figurines on top of the happy couple’s wedding cake.  Symbolizing them, it would be a symbol of the love that they shared for each other.

On the day of the wedding, the cake and surprise “topper” were revealed.  The daughter was so overjoyed that she placed the cake in the center of her wedding.

Now while there is no way to verify this story, it does show the prominence that wedding cake toppers are taking in the wedding ceremony.

By the 1950′s vintage wedding cake toppers had become extremely popular, representing the “togetherness” of the couple getting married.

Over the years, toppers have continued in popularity, but they have changed with the times as well.  For example, you can now get wedding toppers in various ethnic races, and also same sex toppers are available as well.  There is also a little cottage industry that develops humerous wedding toppers, such as those depicting a bride holding her groom so he doesn’t run away from the wedding, In another humorous model, the bride is carrying her groom away from the wedding by the scruff of the neck.  Some toppers even depict the hobbies of the couple getting married.

If you are looking for everything from traditional wedding cake toppers to contemporary wedding cake toppers you have come to the right place.  In subsequent posts we will not only be providing more details on the wonderful world of cake toppers, but highlighting some of the more popular ones, along with where you can obtain them.  So welcome…and enjoy…

As far as traditional wedding cake toppers are concerned, these designs have stood the test of time.
